According to country singer Blake Shelton, he owns “The Voice”.
Shelton is the reigning champion of the popular singing competition. He also remains the last original coach, and it seems he is getting a bit cocky this season.
Blake recently said that he is the king of “The Voice” and after spending 19 seasons on the show, he now owns it. On Tuesday’s episode, Shelton appeared wearing a crown and a cape and seemed pretty confident.
Even in the promos, “The Voice” has been projecting Shelton as “The King of Country”.
On the second night of the auditions, Taryn Papa, a country singer surprised all the judges with her version of “Anyway” by Martina McBride. Shelton was the first to turn around, followed by Gwen Stefani. The country singer also used a block on Kelly Clarkson, his nemesis.
Papa later pointed out to Clarkson that Shelton had blocked her. She was visibly surprised and asked Shelton if he had blocked her. To this, the country singer cheekily replied that it wasn’t him.
As it turns out, Shelton could have saved the block. This is because Taryn Papa wanted to join Shelton’s team from the get-go. Clarkson chose to remain positive, however, saying that she would’ve anyways lost.
