NSA urges windows users to update their computer

Laptop and mobile phone.

A recent report has confirmed that National Security Agency also known as NSA, is urging users to update their computer. NSA do not ask users to update their computer, but this time, it seems that there is an urgent situation.

A few weeks ago, BlueKeep, a critical Windows security vulnerability was revealed and was fixed by the company, and since then Microsoft has been urging the Windows users to update their machines with the new updates that it has released. Microsoft has released the fixes for Windows 10, Windows 8 and Windows 7.

There have been reports that Microsoft regarding the concern has also released fixes for Windows XP, Server 2003, and Vista which are quite old operating systems and do not acquires much attention these days.

“Recent warnings by Microsoft stressed the importance of installing patches to address a protocol vulnerability in older versions of Windows,” the NSA advisory read. “Microsoft has warned that this flaw is potentially ‘wormable,’ meaning it could spread without user interaction across the internet. We have seen devastating computer worms inflict damage on unpatched systems with wide-ranging impact, and are seeking to motivate increased protections against this flaw.”

Rob Joyce of NSA took the concern to Twitter and in one of the posts over Twitter wrote:

“NSA is raising their own concern that the Microsoft RDP flaw (#BlueKeep) is of significant risk to unpatched systems. Patch and protect! We urge Microsoft Windows administrators and users to patch systems to address the #Bluekeep vulnerability”.

Following the BlueKeep hit the Operating System, Microsoft warned the users about the situation, and it compared BlueKeep to WannaCry, the ransomware worm which was created by North Korea and infected hundreds of thousands of computers. WannaCry in 2007 caused damage of millions of dollars.
