As we all know that PlayStation did not attend E3 2019 this time and so it was not the same show which it used to be with Sony and Activision as participants. Xbox boss Phil Spencer in a recent interview with one of the leading news channels discussed on the matter and said that Sony and Activision presence in the E3 matters a lot and he wants them back.
Spencer appeared on the Giant Bomb’s live stream at E3 and talked about the ongoing show E3 2019. Spencer, during the live stream, suggested that the profile of the show has been impacted as Sony and Activision were not present in the show. Spencer, in one of the statements, said: “I wish Sony was here. E3 is not as good when they’re not here,” Spencer said about Sony and Activision dropping out of the big annual gaming show.
“E3 remains relevant and important to the gaming world, Spencer said. It’s a time in the year when the whole world is watching gaming, and that’s very important today when the industry is coming under criticism and judgment. One recent threat, Spencer said, was the World Health Organization’s designation of Gaming Disorder as a recognized disease”.
Spencer also added that E3 is quite important for the people who think gaming is just for kids and not for adults. But without the presence of Sony and Activision, E3 could take a hit in terms of prominence, Spencer mentioned.
Phil Spencer is the board of directors at the group that is behind running E3 every year and is called as the Entertainment Software Association. Spencer is quite interested in keeping the show alive for years to come in the presence of Sony and Activision. Other board members of the Entertainment Software Association include CEO of Grand Theft Auto parent company Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick, and Bethesda owner ZeniMax’s CEO Robert Altman.
